Engineering Mechanics - Statics and dynamic
Engineering Mechanics is considered one of the basic subjects for engineering students irrespective of the branch, as it develops the thinking and imaginative capacity of the students to tackle engineering problems. We present this book for the students of degree classes as per the syllabus of West Bengal University of Technology. The object of the book is to present the subject matter in a most >concise, compact and easily understandable manner. The idea of writing this book occurred to us when we experienced a lot of difficulties in teaching the subject at the WBUT. Considering the inconvenience faced by students and teachers in consulting two books separately for studying the subjects of Engineering Mechanics and Strength of Materials. It was felt that there was a need for a single book that could cover both the subjects. This book is designed to serve that purpose and give a new dimension to the learning of the subject. >While writing this book, we have constantly kept in mind the requirements of all the students< regarding the latest as well as the changing trends in their examinations. To make it more useful at all levels the book has been written in a simple style. It is divided into three parts, namely, Statics, Dynamics and Strength of Materials, which are spread over 13 chapters. A large number of worked-out examples, objective type (multiple choice) and review questions have been given with every chapter, and seven years’ question papers with solutions are given at the end of the book. At the end of each chapter some exercise problems with answers have been added to help students solve them independently. It is expected that this book will fully satisfy the requirements of all the students. Any error, omission and suggestion for the improvement of this volume brought to our notice will be thankfully acknowledged and incorporated in the next edition.
